K1dovertyres vans carry everything needed to carry out a proper repair not a quick rope plug from the outside, but a full internal inspection, plug-and-patch repair to BS AU 159 standard.

If the tyre has gone fully flat, the sidewall looks damaged, or you’ve driven any distance on it while flat, the tyre is likely unrepairable and you’ll probably need a replacement instead see emergency tyre replacement for that.

When emergency repair is what you need

A nail, screw, or sharp object stuck in the tread

A slow puncture that keeps losing a few psi overnight

Air hissing out after a kerb strike or pothole

A tyre that’s gone soft but not flat

A tyre you’ve had to top up repeatedly over a few days

Should you keep driving on it?

Driving on a flat or rapidly deflating tyre for even a short distance usually destroys any chance of repair, damages the wheel, and can be dangerous at speed. If the tyre is losing air fast, pull over somewhere safe, put hazards on, and call us.

If it’s a very slow puncture and the car is at home or work, leave it where it is and call us out we’d rather drive to you than see you turn a repairable tyre into a replacement.

Can your tyre actually be repaired? The honest answer

Not every puncture is safely repairable, and any mobile fitter who tells you “we can repair anything” is misleading you. In the UK, tyre repairs follow BS AU 159 the British Standard that defines what counts as a safe repair.

Usually repairable

  • Punctures in the central tread area
  • Caused by small sharp objects (nails, screws) under about 6mm diameter
  • Where the tyre still has legal tread depth (above 1.6mm)
  • Where there’s no sidewall, shoulder, or internal damage

Usually not repairable

  • Sidewall damage, splits, cuts, or bulges
  • Multiple punctures too close together
  • Tyres that have been driven on while flat
  • Tyres below legal tread depth

We can only confirm whether your tyre is repairable by inspecting it properly both inside and out. That’s exactly what we do when we arrive.

FAQ

Need Emergency Tyre Repair?

No. Only punctures in the central tread area, under 6mm, with no sidewall or shoulder damage, and only where the tyre hasn’t been driven on flat. If the tyre has been run flat, has sidewall damage, or is below legal tread depth, replacement is the safer option. We’ll inspect and tell you honestly.

Usually not, once they’ve been driven on in deflated condition. Most run-flat manufacturers specify replacement rather than repair after the tyre has supported the weight of the car with no air. We’ll check the specific tyre and advise.

Rope plugs fitted from the outside without removing the tyre can’t confirm there’s no internal damage, don’t seal the inner liner properly, and aren’t compliant with BS AU 159. They’re sometimes used as a very short-term emergency fix, but they shouldn’t be treated as a permanent repair. We don’t offer them.

Typically 30–45 minutes from arrival, including removing the wheel, taking the tyre off the rim, inspecting internally, fitting the plug-and-patch, rebalancing, and refitting.

Be honest with us when you call. If the tyre’s been run flat for any distance, the internal carcass is usually damaged and repair won’t be safe we’ll almost certainly need to fit a replacement instead. Better to know up front.

Yes 24/7, including overnight, weekends, and bank holidays.
